Mohammad Shami recorded the second-worst bowling figures in the IPL during Sunrisers Hyderabad’s match against Punjab Kings on Saturday (April 10).
PBKS blast Shami for 75 Runs in four Overs
After being asked to bowl first, SRH conceded 245-6, with PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer top-scoring with a 36-ball 82. The innings exploded in the final over as Marcus Stoinis hammered four consecutive sixes off Shami, finishing unbeaten on 34 off 11 balls. Shami's 0-75 in four overs became the second-worst figures in IPL history – just one run shy of Jofra Archer’s 0-76, ironically also conceded against SRH earlier in the season. This time, SRH found themselves on the receiving end of a near-record onslaught.

Jofra Archer concedes 76 runs in first IPL 2025 outing
In the fifth over of the Rajasthan Royals' match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Archer came into the attack for the first time. He was part of the England team that played a five-match T20I series against India in February, but has not played in the IPL since May 2023, when he represented Mumbai Indians.
Off his first ball, Travis Head backed away and Archer followed, only for the batter to swivel and get it behind square leg for four. The second was pitched up on middle stump – and Head obliged with a massive strike over the leg-side, his six measuring 105 metres.
There was some respite as a slower ball then resulted in a dot, but Head then slashed the following delivery through the off side for four. After a bouncer was called wide, the Australian opener then went down the ground twice in a row for two more fours, to take 23 off the over. By the end of the Powerplay, SRH had put up 94-1.
Archer's nightmare wasn't over as Ishan Kishan then smashed Archer for three sixes in the 13th over of the innings, taking 22 as his figures read 0-57 after three overs. Archer's final over started with a beamer that ran away for four byes, before it went for 19 runs, taking his figures to 0-76, the worst in IPL history.
