Watch: Vaibhav Suryavanshi, 14 years old, making his IPL debut today (April 19), smashed Shardul Thakur for a six on the first ball he faced.
The youngest player in IPL history, Suryavanshi came in place of the injured RR captain Sanju Samson. He didn't take the field but was subbed in as an impact player as Rajasthan came out to bat in a chase of 181.
Yashasvi Jaiswal took strike, hitting a four off the second ball of the innings before turning strike over to Suryavanshi off the next. The left-hander faced up to Thakur, backing away to the leg side and thrashing a length ball over cover for a glorious six first ball.
If you dared putting that down to beginner's luck, Suryavanshi repeated the act in the next over, smashing Avesh Khan, another international bowler, down the ground for his second six in three deliveries.

At the end of two overs, RR had raced off to 26-0 and Suryavanshi was batting on a scarcely believable 18 off five balls. The teenager then hit Ravi Bishnoi and Digvesh Rathi for a four and a six after the powerplay before perishing to the off-spin of Aiden Markram in the ninth over for 34 off 20.
