Guwahati may be RR’s adopted “home” for two games, but expect the city to cheer for their local hero Riyan when he walks out to toss for them. Of course, Riyan will have a lot on his platter. His abysmal form notwithstanding, RR are likely to back Archer for at least a few games, but it needs to be seen whether they move on from Farooqi to Kwena Maphaka. Their lack of all-rounders may also want them to pick Hasaranga, the only one who fits that bill, ahead of Maheesh Theekshana.
One thing RR do have is a long list of hitters. Yet again, they can bolster that with Hasaranga without not compromising on the bowling.
After starting the 2025 edition with a defeat, defending champions KKR would go all out to emulate SRH’s pile of records against RR earlier in the league. They have the firepower for that, but they have to maximise their powerplay for that: that was essential to their success in 2024.
