Glenn Phillips out of IPL 2025

A press release from the IPL today (April 12) confirmed that Gujarat Titans all-rounder Glenn Phillips will take no further part in this season's Indian Premier League.

"Gujarat Titans all-rounder Glenn Phillips has returned to New Zealand following a groin injury he sustained during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 6," the release said which also added a statement from Gujarat Titans wishing him well: "Gujarat Titans wish Glenn a speedy recovery."

Phillips did not feature in the starting XI for any game for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025, although he was part of the impact subs list. In the match against SRH, Phillips came on as a substitute fielder for Mohammed Siraj for an over and ended up injurying himself in a space of four deliveries. He had to be helped off the field.

After that, Phillips didn't feature in the team sheets for GT, who have used Sherfane Rutherford as their overseas middle order batter instead. And now, he has officially been ruled out of the campaign.

What has Phillips' IPL career been like?

Phillips was picked up by the Gujarat Titans at the IPL 2025 auction for his base price of INR 2 Cr. He has previously played for Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad, and has eight IPL matches to his name in which he has scored 65 runs at 9.29, striking at 118.18. He also has two wickets in his IPL career.

Having been in red-hot form in 2025 for New Zealand, Phillips' loss would be a big one for GT. They are currently sitting at the top of the IPL points table four wins from fve games.
