Gujarat Titans' overseas star Glenn Phillips injured himself while acting as a substitute fielder during today's IPL 2025 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Gujarat Titans won the toss and fielded first. Mohammed Siraj continued his brilliant form with the new ball, removing both SRH openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. It was the third consecutive game where he had taken two wickets inside the first six overs.

Head was dismissed on the last ball of the first over, flicking a full delivery to mid-wicket, while Abhishek was out mistiming a lofted shot to mid-on in the fifth over.
How did Phillips get injured?
After completing his third over in the powerplay, Siraj went off the field temporarily as Phillips, listed as one of the imapct subs, came on as a substitute fielder. Since GT had named only two overseas players in their first XI, Phillips was allowed to replace an Indian player.
However, the New Zealand star's stay on the field was cut short as he seemed to have done his groin while fielding and throwing the fourth ball of the sixth over, bowled by Prasidh Krishna.
After laying on the field for a couple of minutes and receiving medical attention, Phillips was helped off the field by his teammates and support staff as the right-hander struggled to walk.
Siraj eventually came back on replacing Phillips.
The New Zealander is yet to be officially named in the starting XI or as an impact sub in IPL 2025. GT have consistently preferred the West Indian Sherfane Rutherford over him as their overseas middle-order batter.
There's no official update on the extent of his injury so far, but if it's serious, Phillips could be set to lose his spot on the impact subs list as well for the immediate future.
