Here are the records broken as Sunrisers Hyderabad amassed 286-6 against the Rajasthan Royals in Match 2 of the 2025 IPL.
As he won the toss at the Rajiv Gandhi International stadium in Uppal and opted to field, Riyan Parag became the youngest captain to lead RR. He broke the record of Steve Smith (24 years 347 days).
IPL 2025: SRH vs RR records
Riyan’s decision backfired as SRH blazed away to 94-1 after six overs, the fifth-highest powerplay total in IPL history. SRH have the top two entries – 125-0 against Delhi Capitals, 107-0 against Lucknow Super Giants – both in 2024.
SRH continued with the onslaught to rack up 286-6, the second-highest total in IPL history. They hold the record themselves, of 287-3 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, as well as the third-highest, of 277-3 against Mumbai Indians – yet again, both in 2024. These are the only three IPL totals in excess of 275.
SRH are also the only team with three 275-plus scores and four 250-plus scores in any T20 cricket.
On his IPL comeback, Jofra Archer went for 4-0-76-0. These are now the most runs conceded by anyone in an IPL innings. This “distinction” used to be with Mohit Sharma of the Gujarat Titans, who had 4-0-73-0 against DC in 2024. In fact, no one has matched Archer’s economy of 19 for a spell of 2.2 overs or longer.
Archer was not the only bowler to have a bad day. Fazalhaq Farooqi (3-0-49-0), Maheesh Theekshana (4-0-52-2), Sandeep Sharma (4-0-51-1), and Tushar Deshpande (4-0-44-3) all went for at least 11 an over. This was the first time in IPL history that five bowlers conceded 40 or more in the same innings.
Records broken by Ishan Kishan
Ishan Kishan, who lit up his SRH debut with a 47-ball unbeaten innings of 106, was significantly responsible for the misery of the RR bowlers. At 45 balls, this was the third-fastest hundred for SRH (and joint ninth-fastest in the IPL). Among SRH batters, only Travis Head (39 balls against RCB in 2024) and David Warner (43 against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2017) have got quicker hundreds.
Kishan also became the first Indian to score a hundred in his first game for a team. Among non-Indians, Brendon McCullum (158 not out for KKR against RCB in 2008), Michael Hussey (116 not out for Chennai Super Kings against Kings XI Punjab), and Chris Gayle (102 not out for RCB against KKR in 2011) have done this. This was Kishan’s maiden IPL hundred: he had earlier played for Gujarat Lions and Mumbai Indians.
