Wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan smashed a superb century on his SRH debut in IPL 2025, joining an elite club in the process.
The second match of IPL 2025 was a run-fest, as SRH racked up 286-6, the second-highest total in IPL history, before RR replied with 242-6.

The first-innings effort was down to contributions throughout the batting order, as all of SRH's top six struck at 200-plus. Opener Travis Head slammed 67 off 31 balls to get the ball rolling, but the starring contribution came from Ishan Kishan, who announced himself in style in SRH colours – scoring an unbeaten 106 off just 47 balls.

The left-hander was picked up by last year's runners-up for INR 11.25 crores, after being released by Mumbai Indians. His century has now taken him into an elite four-man club of IPL players.

Ishan Kishan slams ton on SRH debut to join exclusive club
Kishan is the first Indian, and fourth player overall, to score a century in their first innings for an IPL franchise. Brendon McCullum, Michael Hussey and Chris Gayle are the other three to do so, and the most recent of those was Gayle, who did so in 2011 – 14 years ago.

McCullum famously achieved this not just on his KKR debut, but his IPL debut – and not just his IPL debut, but the IPL's own debut, lighting up the inaugural match of the tournament with an unbelievable 158*. The very next day, Hussey scored his ton in CSK's first-ever IPL match.
Incidentally, this was Kishan's 100th IPL innings overall (he has also represented Gujarat Lions, in addition to MI and now SRH). He is just the second player to mark the occasion with a century, after Shubman Gill did so last year, scoring 104 for Gujarat Titans against CSK at Ahmedabad last year. Faf du Plessis came extremely close to this mark, scoring 96 for RCB against LSG in his 100th IPL innings in 2022.
