Lucknow Super Giants pacer Prince Yadav stole the show early on against Sunrisers Hyderabad today (March 27), dismissing Travis Head.
LSG skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and chose to field first in Hyderabad, before Shardul Thakur took the wickets of Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan off consecutive balls to leave the home side 15-2 in 2.2 overs.
Travis Head then took the attack to LSG, making his way to 47 off 27 balls before he was knocked over by rookie pacer Prince Yadav, playing just his second IPL match.
Who is Prince Yadav?
Yadav first hit the headlines last year, when he claimed a hat-trick for Purani Dilli-6 in the inaugural edition of the Delhi Premier League. He finished with 13 wickets in 10 matches in that tournament.
He had been with LSG as a net bowler for IPL 2023, before the franchise picked him up for INR 30 lakh at the 2024 auction.
In the latest edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Yadav finished with 11 wickets in six matches – Delhi's top wicket-taker.
Later in the match, Yadav attempted fielding a powerful shot from Nitish Kumar Reddy. The ball ricocheted off his hand and onto the stumps at the bowler's end, running out Heinrich Klaasen. However, he seemed to have done some damage to his bowling hand in the process.
