Vaibhav Suryavanshi (Rajasthan Royals) – Age: 13 years 354 days
After a tight bidding war between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals, 13-year-old Suryavanshi was acquired by the latter for INR 1.10 crore. Suryavanshi made headlines by smashing a 58-ball century in a Youth Test for India U19s against Australia last year. He also shone in the 2024 U19 Asia Cup, scoring 176 runs in five matches at an average of 44.00 and a strike rate of 145. Earlier this year, he also made his first-class debut in the Ranji Trophy for Bihar.
C Andre Siddarth (Chennai Super Kings) – Age: 18 years 200 days
Chennai Super Kings have bagged local talent Andre Siddarth at his base price of INR 30 lakh. At 18 years and 200 days, the Tamil Nadu youngster is the second-youngest player in IPL 2025. Siddarth has enjoyed a rapid start to his first-class career.
During his six outings for Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy, he amassed 372 runs at an average of 93. His familiarity with the local conditions could give the five-time champions a promising talent to nurture.
Kwena Maphaka (Rajasthan Royals) – Age: 18 years 342 days
Maphaka’s career has seen a meteoric rise since his Player of the Tournament performance at the U19 World Cup last year, where he claimed 21 wickets at an astonishing average of 9.71.
Soon after, he secured an IPL deal with Mumbai Indians and made his international debut for South Africa. The left-arm pacer, who is the youngest to play for South Africa across formats, impressed with his hostile spells in his nascent career, regularly clocking 150kph. After playing just two matches for MI last season, Maphaka was bought by Rajasthan Royals for INR 1.5 crore.

Swastik Chikara (Royal Challengers Bengaluru) – Age: 19 years 347 days
Chikara’s breakthrough season in the Uttar Pradesh T20 League earned him an IPL deal with Royal Challengers Bengaluru worth INR 30 lakh. With 499 runs at 49.90 and a strike rate of 186, Chikara dominated the tournament, finishing as the highest run-getter. At 19 years 347 dayss he is the fourth-youngest player in the IPL this year.
Musheer Khan (Punjab Kings) – Age: 20 years 17 days
Musheer, Sarfaraz Khan's younger brother, is next on the list. He announced himself by converting his maiden century into a double hundred in the Ranji Trophy quarter-final last year.
The Mumbai batter followed it up with another century in the final. At the U19 World Cup, he finished as the second-highest scorer with 360 runs at an average of 60, while also taking seven wickets with his off-spin at an average of 26.57 and an economy of 3.63. Musheer was sold to Punjab Kings at his base price of INR 30 lakh in the mega auction.

MS Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings) – Age: 43 years 252 days
Following the announcement of the new retention guidelines, CSK retained Dhoni as an “uncapped” player. Having already stepped down from captaincy, Dhoni now plays as a wicketkeeper and lower-order batter, specialising in playing cameos during the latter stages of the innings. Amid speculation about his retirement, he is gearing up to play another season, much to the delight of the fans.
Faf du Plessis (Delhi Capitals) – Age: 40 years 246 days
Only the second player who is set to play this season after turning 40. Du Plessis led RCB until last year, but despite having three Right-to-Match cards, they didn’t buy back their former skipper. He was sold to Delhi Capitals at his base price of Rs 2 crore and will now play under Axar Patel.
R Ashwin (Chennai Super Kings) – Age: 38 years 180 days
Ashwin has returned to the franchise that shaped his formative years, for INR 9.5 crore. He will be the third-oldest player to feature in this edition of the league. Having retired internationally as India’s second-highest wicket-taker (765) across formats, it remains to be seen whether Ashwin can continue to weave the magic he is known for.
Rohit Sharma (Mumbai Indians) – Age: 37 years, 320 days
Mumbai Indians retained their former captain for INR 16.3 crore. Under his leadership, the franchise won the joint-most titles (five) before passing the leadership baton to Hardik Pandya last year. He enters the season on the high of leading India to a T20 World Cup and a Champions Trophy title within a year.
Moeen Ali (Kolkata Knight Riders) – Age: 37 years, 271 days
The former England all-rounder was roped in by defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 2 crore. Having played 67 IPL matches previously, Moeen scored 1,162 runs besides taking 35 wickets. He made his IPL debut in 2018 for RCB before moving to CSK, where he played until 2024.
