IPL 2025: SRH have named Wiaan Mulder as Brydon Carse's replacement

Sunrisers Hyderabad have named a replacement for the injured England fast bowler Brydon Carse ahead of IPL 2025.

IPL 2025: Brydon Carse ruled out

Carse was due to turn up for Sunrisers Hyderabad, the 2016 champions, for his first-ever IPL gig. However, he has been forced to withdraw from the 2025 season, owing to an injury to his foot. It's the same injury that forced him to leave the 2025 Champions Trophy midway, with England calling up Rehan Ahmed as his replacement.

The injury was stated to be a toe blister, but subsequently required stitches. Carse was forced to miss two of the three ODIs against India preceding the Champions Trophy. He did play against Australia in the tournament in Lahore, finishing with figures of 1-69 from seven overs, but couldn't participate any further.

Carse was picked up for his base price of INR 1 crore at the auction by SRH. Known for his ability to bowl in excess of 90mph, Carse was supposed to complete a fast-bowling lineup that already has Pat Cummins and Mohammed Shami, among others.

IPL 2025: Wiaan Mulder named replacement

South Africa all-rounder Wiaan Mulder has been named his replacement. Mulder, who is yet to play in the IPL himself, was slotted in at a base price of INR 75 lakh at the auction, but found no takers. Part of the 2016 U19 World Cup, Mulder has gone on to represent South Africa in all three formats, and finished as their leading wicket-taker at the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Sunrisers Hyderabad play their first match of the season against Rajasthan Royals, a day game in Hyderabad on March 23, a day after the opening fixture.
