Rajasthan Royals pulled off an epic run chase during their IPL 2025 match against Gujarat Titans on Monday (April 28). Here's what the IPL points table looks like after the result.
Batting first, Sai Sudharsan (39 off 30), captain Shubman Gill (84 off 50), and Jos Buttler (50 not out off 26) took GT to a respectable 209-4. In a surprise change in the second innings, Gill was subbed out with deputy Rashid Khan taking over the leadership duty for the rest of the match.
RR’s run-chase was headlined by a spectacular century from 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Having hit his first ball of the IPL for a six earlier, Suryavanshi, playing only his third match of the tournament, struck a rapid 38-ball 101. His blitzkrieg had 11 sixes and seven fours. With Yashasvi Jaiswal playing second fiddle with an unbeaten 70 off 40 balls and captain Riyan Parag contributing a fiery 32 off 15, RR comfortably chased down the target in just 15.5 overs, finishing with eight wickets in hand.
IPL 2025: Updated points table after RR beat GT
Following the loss, Gujarat dropped one spot to third – previously held by Mumbai Indians, who now climb to second in the standings. Meanwhile, RR’s rapid chase not only secured their second win but also provided a significant net run-rate boost. This lifted them to eighth place and has just about kept them in the playoff hunt, pushing Sunrisers Hyderabad down the table in the process.
