Kolkata Knight Riders' IPL 2025 home match against Punjab Kings on Saturday (April 26) has been called off due to persistent rain. Here's the updated points table.
KKR vs PBKS: Match washed out
Batting first, PBKS posted 201-4 on the boards. The KKR bowlers lacked venom for most of the innings. as a 71-ball 120-run opening partnership between Priyan Arya (69 off 35 balls) and Prabhsimran Singh (83 off 49) unfolded. An improved deadbowling performance saw the dismissal of Glenn Maxwell (7) and Marco Jansen (3) cheaply, but it was a competitive total on the wicket nonetheless.
In response, KKR scored 7-0 in the first over when the skies opened up. The cut-off time for a five-over match was 11:44 pm, but the weather god didn’t relent, forcing the match to be abandoned.
The reverse fixture between the two sides earlier in Mullanpur saw PBKS defend 111 against KKR, a record in the tournament. A year ago, it was the same team against whom PBKS also recorded the highest successful chase in T20s.
IPL 2025: Updated points table after KKR vs PBKS match
The season's first washout resulted in both teams splitting the points. While the shared points propelled PBKS up the standings - leapfrogging Mumbai Indians into the top four - KKR remained stagnant at seventh position. The defeat means KKR have entered a must-win territory along with Sunrisers Hyderabad, who are in eighth place. Anything less than 16 points spells trouble for them. Notably, there wasn't any change in either side's net run rates.
