Royal Challengers Bengaluru broke their winless streak at home by beating Rajasthan Royals at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday (April 24). Here's what the IPL points table looks like after the RCB vs RR match.
RCB entered the match having lost each of their previous three home games. Virat Kohli (70 off 42) and Devdutt Padikkal (50 off 27) set the foundation, with late cameos from Tim David (23 off 15) and Jitesh Sharma (20* off 10) propelling RCB to 205-5.
RR, struggling this season, started strongly, reaching 100 in eight overs. Suyash Sharma (0-31) and Krunal Pandya (2-31) combined to stifle the scoring, but Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s 18th over, which went for 22 runs, reignited RR’s hopes. Josh Hazlewood (4-33), RCB’s standout bowler, struck twice in the 19th over, conceding just one run to script his team's comeback. RR fell short by 11 runs, suffering their fifth consecutive defeat.
IPL 2025: Updated points table after RCB beat RR
RCB’s win moved them up one spot, swapping places with Mumbai Indians (now fourth). RR, on the other hand, retained their eighth position despite their loss.
Alongside RR, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings are also tied on four points, but RR have played an extra match. They remain ahead due to a superior net run-rate (-0.625) compared to SRH (-1.361, ninth) and CSK (-1.392, tenth).
