Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Chennai Super Kings by 50 runs in match eight of IPL 2025 - here is the updated points table after today's IPL match.
CSK vs RCB: RCB secure first Chepauk win over CSK since 2008
Chennai skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and chose to field first, but saw RCB get off to a flyer with Phil Salt (32 off 16) – before a brilliant MS Dhoni stumping off Noor Ahmad ended his stay at the crease. RCB skipper Rajat Patidar excelled in the middle overs after surviving a couple of dropped catches, top-scoring with 51 off 32 before Tim David's 22 off 8 helped them to 196-7.
In reply, CSK's chase never got off the ground. Josh Hazlewood removed Rahul Tripathi and Gaikwad in the second over, before Deepak Hooda also departed in the Powerplay. Neither Sam Curran nor Shivam Dube made an impact either, as the hosts slumped to 80-6 and then 99-7 in 15.2 overs, before MS Dhoni came to the crease. They eventually finished on 146-8, resulting in a 50-run loss.
