Rajasthan Royals beat Punjab Kings by 50 runs in the second IPL match of Saturday (April 5). Here's what the result has done to the points table.
After Delhi Capitals' win over CSK in the first match of the day, Rajasthan Royals looked to double their tally of wins as well when against Punjab Kings. Having been put into bat, RR got off to a flying start thanks to openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson. The pair put on 89 off the first 10.2 overs before Samson was dismissed for a 26-ball 38. Jaiswal went on to record a half-century in partnership with Riyan Parag, before some lower-order hitting from Shimron Hetmyer took them to a total of 205-4.
Punjab never really got going in the chase. They lost Impact Sub Priyansh Arya for a first-ball duck off the first ball of the innings, and were 43-4 by the middle of the seventh over. The only real resistance came from Nehal Wadhere, who scored 62 off 41 balls before he was dismissed by Wanindu Hasaranga. Jofra Archer picked up three wickets for Rajasthan, clean bowling Arya and Shreyas Iyer before dismissing Arshdeep Singh as the final wicket of the innings.
Punjab ended their innings 50 runs short of the target on 155-9.
