Thanks to their record-breaking defence, Punjab Kings have surged from sixth to fourth place with four wins in six matches. They now trail only table-toppers Gujarat Titans, second-placed Delhi Capitals, and third-ranked Royal Challengers Bengaluru - all three teams have four wins each.
Kolkata Knight Riders, meanwhile, missed their chance to claim the top spot after failing to chase down the target convincingly. The loss sees them drop one place to sixth in the standings.
