Shreyas Iyer shakes hands with Shubman Gill following victory in PBKS' opening games of IPL 2025

Here is the updated points table for IPL 2025 after today's match.

The season kicked off on Saturday, March 22 with Kolkata Knight Riders taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Seventy league games are to be played with the four playoff games starting on May 20.

In Punjab Kings' opening game of the tournament, they faced down 2022 winners Gujarat Titans with a revamped side. New captain Shreyas Iyer struck gold immediately, but was denied a century on debut when he was left stranded at the non-striker's end on 97* off 44 balls.

Despite Gujarat's strong middle-order which saw a half-century from Jos Buttler and 46 off 28 balls from impact player Sherfane Rutherford, as well as 74 off 41 balls from opener Sai Sudharsan, Gujarat couldn't overhaul the 244-run target they were set. They fell only 11 runs short, reaching 232-5 off their 20 overs.
