Mumbai Indians defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by eight wickets in match 12 of IPL 2025 on Monday (March 31 ) - here is the updated points table after today's IPL match.
At the toss, MI captain Hardik Pandya chose to bowl first as the home team handed a debut to Ashwani Kumar, who made an immediate impact by dismissing opposition skipper Ajinkya Rahane off the very first ball. Ashwani's steep bounce proved unplayable as KKR crumbled to 116 all out in 16.2 overs, with the left-arm seamer finishing with 4-24 off three overs, the best figures by an Indian on IPL debut. It is also the first time MI had used four left-arm bowlers in a match - Ashwani, Trent Boult, Mitchell Santner, and Vignesh Puthur.
Chasing a paltry total, MI opener Ryan Rickelton started nervously, getting repeatedly beaten in the early overs. But once settled, he cut loose, finishing unbeaten on 62 off 41 balls, studded with five sixes and four fours. A fiery nine-ball 27 not out from Suryakumar Yadav then sealed the win, as MI romped home in 12.5 overs despite losing Rohit Sharma (13 off 12) and Will Jacks (16 off 17).
Updated IPL 2025 points table after MI vs KKR match
The result saw MI and KKR swap places in the IPL 2025 points table. Having entered the match as the only winless team this season, MI's dominant victory not only earned them two crucial points but also improved their net run-rate to +0.309, lifting them from the bottom to sixth place – a position previously held by KKR, who now sit last.
