LSG apply brakes to cruising GT

LSG handed GT their second defeat of IPL 2025, successfully chasing down 181 in a tense finish. Aiden Markram set the tone with a fluent 58 off 31 balls, stepping up in the absence of his regular opening partner Mitchell Marsh, who missed the match due to his daughter’s illness. Captain Rishabh Pant promoted himself to open but fell for 21 off 18, extending his lean run. Nicholas Pooran, hit his fourth fifty this season, a 34-ball 61. With 15 needed off the last over, Ayush Badoni sealed the win in style, smashing Sai Kishore for a four and a six off the second and third deliveries, clinching a six-wicket victory for LSG.

SRH pull off thrilling chase against PBKS

Chasing 246, SRH openers Travis Head (66 off 37 balls) and Abhishek Sharma (141 off 55) set up a solid platform. By the time the 171-run opening stand was broken, SRH had already reached 171 in 12.2 overs. In a fiery subplot, Head, who was the first to be dismissed, was involved in a heated exchange with his compatriot, Glenn Maxwell. Abhishek’s hundred came off 40 balls, the fifth-fastest in the history of IPL. The hosts gunned down the total with eight wickets and nine balls remaining.

Gujarat’s loss dropped them to second place, while LSG jumped from sixth to third – both teams now have four wins in six matches, but GT retains a higher position due to their superior net run-rate.

SRH’s fiery chase in the second match propelled them off the bottom of the table to eighth place, while Punjab Kings slipped one spot to sixth after the result.
