Delhi Capitals beat Chennai Super Kings by 25 runs on Saturday (April 5). Here's what the result has done to the points table.
In the season's first afternoon match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, the visiting side won the toss and chose to bat first. Despite losing Jake Fraser-McGurk for a duck, they motored along nicely thanks to Abishek Porel (33) in the Powerplay, and KL Rahul thereafter.
Rahul finished with 77 off 51, top-scoring as Axar Patel, Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs all also chipped in to take their side to 183-6. In reply, it was a familiar, disappointing tale for CSK as they lost all of their top three inside the Powerplay, and the required run rate began to soar.
Local boy Vijay Shankar ended up with a half-century, but his effort was nowhere near enough to CSK over the line as they succumbed to a 25-run loss.
