Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings beat Mumbai Indians in the first double-header of IPL 2025 on Sunday (March 23). Here's what the points table looks like after the results.
IPL 2025: SRH bat RR out of the game
In the first match in Hyderabad, SRH posted 286-6 on the board, the second-highest total in the IPL. The herculean batting effort was spearheaded by an unbeaten 47-ball 106 from Ishan Kishan, who became the first Indian, and fourth player overall, to score a century in their first innings for an IPL franchise.
As many as four RR bowlers leaked more than 50 runs, with Jofra Archer, playing his first IPL match in two years, conceding 0-76, the most expensive spell in IPL history. The mammoth total left RR with no choice but to attack from the word go, and they eventually fell short by 44 runs, ending their innings on 242-6.

IPL 2025: CSK spin-choke MI
The second match on the spin-friendly familiar Chepauk pitch was a low-scoring affair. Hosts CSK opted to bowl first, leaving out Matheesha Pathirana for Nathan Ellis. MI struggled throughout the innings as Noor Ahmad’s 4-18 put a stranglehold. It was Deepak Chahar’s 15-ball 28 not out in the end which gave their innings some sort of credibility, taking them to 155-9.
In response, Rachin Ravindra’s unbeaten 65 off 45 balls guided the home side to victory. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad too played his part with a 26-ball 53 from No.3. Left-arm wrist-spinner Vignesh Puthur, making his IPL debut without any prior senior domestic experience, caused a scare with his figures of 3-32. However, Ravindra’s ice-cool composure ensured CSK wrapped up the match with four wickets and five balls to spare.
IPL 2025: Points table after SRH beat RR and CSK beat MI in Match 2 and 3
CSK became the third team after Royal Challengers Bengaluru and SRH to secure a win. SRH's mammoth score against RR boosted their net run rate (NRR) to 2.2, taking them to the top spot on the IPL 2025 points table. With 2.137, RCB are next, while CSK are ranked third with a NRR of 0.493.
