Mumbai Indians have announced South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch as an injury replacement for his compatriot Lizaad Williams for IPL 2025.
Williams, who was acquired by MI for INR 75 lakh in this year’s auction, has been ruled out due to a knee injury, which also sidelined him for the SA20 in January.
He is now set to be replaced by his countryman Bosch, who went unsold in the auction after a steller SA20 title-winning season for MI Cape Town. The all-rounder picked up 11 wickets in eight games this season, including a 4-19 against Sunrisers Eastern Cape.
However, this will not be Bosch’s first-ever IPL stint as he was previously roped in by Rajasthan Royals as net bowler before being signed by the franchise as Nathan Coulter-Nile’s replacement in 2022. But he is yet to play in the tournament.

Corbin Bosch: A dream start to international career
Bosch’s impressive domestic form earned him call-ups into South Africa’s ODI and Test outfits. Making his red-ball debut for South Africa in the Boxing Day Test against Pakistan last year, the all-rounder struck an unbeaten 81 in the first innings. Then he followed it up with an outstanding bowling performance, getting a wicket of his first ball. With his 4-36 and 81 not out, he became the first South Africa player and 16th overall to take a four-wicket haul and score 50 plus on Test debut.
He was also called up as the injured Anrich Nortje’s replacement in South Africa’s squad for the Champions Trophy.
Williams' injury is the latest setback for the Hardik Pandya-led side. Earlier Afghanistan spinner Allah Ghazanfar was ruled out, with Mujeeb-ur-Rahman replacing him, while Jasprit Bumrah is doubtful owing to a back injury sustained during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
