When will IPL 2025 be played?
The 18th edition of the IPL will begin on Saturday (March 22) with defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Eden Gardens. KKR have appointed Ajinkya Rahane as their new skipper after letting go of their title-winning captain Shreyas Iyer, who broke the bank in this year’s IPL auction. RCB, too, have a new captain in Rajat Patidar at the helm, as they did not retain Faf du Plessis.

A total of 74 matches will be played, including the two Qualifiers, the Eliminator and the final on May 25. Find the full IPL 2025 schedule here.
Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings enter as the most successful sides, having won the trophy five times each. KKR are next with three titles to their name. Apart from last year, they won it in 2012 and 2014.
