Jos Buttler will be the first name called in the 2025 IPL auction

The list of players set to go under the hammer in the mega-auction for the 2025 IPL has been announced - here are all the overseas players on the list.

Among the marquee names is England white-ball captain Jos Buttler, who was released from Rajasthan Royals after seven years of service to the team ahead of the auction. He will be up first under the hammer, with Kagiso Rabada set to be the second player up for grabs. The other of the overseas players in the marquee list of 12 set to be bid on first are Mitchell Starc - who broke the record for the highest-ever bid at last year's auction - as well as Liam Livingstone and David Miller.

Jofra Archer is notably absent from the list, having been expected to play in next year's competition having been on the auction long list. Archer has had a long run of injuries, which have impacted his availability for the IPL. In 2022, after Mumbai paid eight crore for him, he had to leave the competition to undergo elbow surgery, and only played two games for the side across two seasons.

Of England players, James Anderson has made the short list. At the age of 42, he will be the oldest players in the auction, and has set a base price of INR 1.25 crore.

The auction will take place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It's being held overseas for only the second time in its history, the 2024 auction being held in Dubai. The long-list of players submitted in advance had 1,574 names on it, but the shortlist announced today has been whittled down to 574, 208 of which are overseas.
