An Australian World Cup-winning all-rounder who was an injury doubt ahead of IPL 2025, has been cleared to play as a pure batter.
IPL 2025: Mitchell Marsh fit to play as batter
Australia's T20I captain Mitchell Marsh is recovering from a back injury which ruled him out of Australia's Sri Lanka tour and Champions Trophy earlier this year.
He was picked up by Lucknow Super Giants at the IPL 2025 auction but there were doubts over his participation. Fortunately for LSG, he has now been cleared to play as a pure batter.

According to an ESPNCricinfo report, Marsh is expected to join the LSG squad on March 18. The all-rounder is coming off a period of rest and has resumed batting in the nets.
At LSG, Marsh will team up with head coach Justin Langer, whom he has shared dressing rooms with for Australia, Western Australia, and Perth Scorchers.

Where does Marsh fit in for LSG?
Lucknow Super Giants have one of the most fearsome batting lineups in IPL 2025 led by wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. Along with Marsh, the other three overseas slots are expected to be filled by Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran, and David Miller.
Marsh should slot straight in at the top of the order as an opener. Lucknow do not have any designated opener in their squad, and Marsh's experience and power at the top should benefit them.
Marsh played four games for Delhi Capitals last season, scoring 61 runs at a strike rate of 160 before he was ruled out due to a hamstring injury. Overall, Marsh has played 42 matches across his IPL career 666 runs at 127.83. He has also taken 37 wickets at an economy rate of 8.52.
