The squads are now finalised for the 2025 edition of the IPL, with plenty of action across the two days of the auction. Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer attracted record bids on day one, the former surpassing the latter's record of 26.75 crore when he was sold to LSG for 27 crore. Those records both surpassed the record bid for Mitchell Starc at last year's auction (24.75 crore).

Jos Buttler also attracted a sizable bid of 15.75 crore, which saw him sold to Gujarat Titans. Buttler was let go from his long term franchise Rajasthan Royals ahead of the auction, and while the Royals attempted to bid for him back, they were unable to match Gujarat's winning offer.

IPL 2025 auction: As it happened

Another notable moment was when Venkatesh Iyer was sold to KKR for 23.75 crore after a fierce bidding war with RCB, who had blown much of their budget on their retained players. KKR also picked up the South Africa pair of Quinton de Kock and Anrich Norjte.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the most expensive pick on day two, going to RCB for 10.75 crore. With all the bidding now done, teams can start to finalise their plans for the competition next year.
