The IPL 2025 match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants at Eden Gardens has been postponed from its original date of April 6. Here's why.
The BCCI announced today (March 28) that match No.19 of the 2025 IPL was to be postponed, meaning there was only nine days warning of the change to the schedule. The match in question was set to take place at KKR's Eden Gardens home in Kolkata, which hosted the tournament opener where RCB beat the hosts and defending champions by seven wickets.
A statement from the board read: "The decision [to postpone the game] follows a request from Kolkata Police to the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) regarding the deployment of personnel across the city owing to festivites. The authorities have recommended that the game be moved to Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 3:30pm, and the request has been accomodated accordingly. The rest of the schedule remains unchanged."
The KKR-LSG clash, originally set for Sunday, April 6, has been pushed back by two days.

Why was the KKR v LSG IPL match rescheduled?
Celebrations for the Ram Navami festival will be taking place in the city over the original April 6 date the fixture was scheduled to take place. As such, moving the game to after the conclusion of festival celebrations means appropriate resources can be allocated to ensure the security of the fixture.
The game being moved to April 8 means that April 6 will no longer be a double-header day in the competition. Sunrisers Hyderabad will host Gujarat Titans at 7:30pm local time in a now single-game day. However, Tuesday, April 8 will be converted into a double-header day, with the KKR v LSG fixture up first before Punjab Kings host Chennai Super Kings later in the day.
This is not the first time the IPL match schedule has been changed after the tournament has started. Last year, another fixture at Eden Gardens – between KKR and RCB – was brought forward by a day after local police raised concerns over providing security on the original match day. This was also due to policing for Ram Navami celebrations. The change to the schedule on that occasion meant the match meant to take place on the new day for the fixture – between Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals – was pushed back by a day in a direct swap in the schedule.
