Rana made waves in the IPL 2024 for his fiery attitude, intent and wicket-taking ability, taking 19 scalps in 13 matches to finish as the second highest wicket-taker in the competition for champions Kolkata Knight Riders. He recently earned his maiden Test call-up for the India tour of Australia after a series of impressive performances in the domestic circuit.

In 10 first-class games, Rana has taken 43 wickets at an average of 24.00 and a strike rate of 36 with best match figures of 10/108. He also has a respectable batting record of scoring 469 runs at an average of 42.63 with a century and two half-centuries. He was with the Indian Test side for the New Zealand series as a net bowler in Bengaluru and Pune, before he was released to play a Ranji Trophy game against Assam.
