Twice – in the eighth and tenth over – Kuldeep Yadav saw his teammates drop catches off his bowling, first Livingstone and then Taide. The pair managed to escape through a bizarre passage that also saw them miss out two run outs off the same ball.

Off the final ball of the 11th over, Livingstone dug out a yorker and trudged out for a single, before refusing it upon seeing the ball reach David Warner. Taide had reached halfway down and scampered back, and was not even in the frame when the wayward throw missed the stumps.

Livingstone sensed the opportunity of an overthrow, but Taide was clearly not ready. Rilee Rossouw, meanwhile, hurled the back to the wicketkeeper, with Livingstone trying to make his way back. Phil Salt, though, did not receive the ball properly, only managing to disturb the stumps with his own gloves. Livingstone dived, and would have been out if it had been collected cleanly, but it wasn’t to be.

Taide retired out later, becoming just the second batter in IPL history to walk back in that fashion.
