Watch: Rajasthan Royals’ Trent Boult pierced through Delhi Capitals’ top order, taking out Prithvi Shaw and Manish Pandey off back-to-back deliveries, to leave the side at 0-2 after the first over during their IPL 2023 match in Guwahati.

Boult, renowned for striking early with the new ball, took just three balls to fire the opening salvo. Shaw wasn’t named in the first XI but came in as an Impact Player for the start of the innings. After bowling two into his body, Boult shifted the line slightly away – Shaw went for a drive but only managed an outside edge to a ball moving away. That’s where Sanju Samson took a remarkable one-handed catch, flying to his right to complete the grab.

Manish Pandey walked in next, but could do little to Boult’s first offering. The inswinger got the better of him, moving sharply in to rap his front pad. A review could not save him, with UltraEdge confirming that there was no inside edge. Boult finished with a double-wicket maiden.

It was a rather contrasting opening over for Delhi, compared to how Rajasthan enjoyed theirs. 20 overs earlier, Yashasvi Jaiswal struck five out of the first six balls from Khaleel Ahmed for four to give RR a boundary-filled start.
