Sunil Narine continued his excellent head-to-head record against Virat Kohli by bowling the former India captain through the gate with a sharp-turning off-break in KKR’s clash against RCB.

RCB were up against it in the second innings of the game after Shardul Thakur’s remarkable rescue act with the bat for KKR, taking them to a final total of 204 from their 20 overs. RCB raced off to a flying start in the run chase with the opening pair of Kohli and Faf du Plessis taking 23 runs off Tim Southee’s second over to take RCB to 42-0 after four overs.

This was when Narine was brought into the attack. The West Indies mystery spinner was off celebrating after his fifth ball beat Kohli’s inside edge as he attempted to flick an off-break through the leg-side, uprooting his off-stump.

It continues Narine’s excellent IPL record against Kohli. Kohli has scored 101 runs off 101 deliveries off Narine in the IPL, striking at exactly 100 with an average of 25.25. Narine’s dismissal of Kohli prompted somewhat of a collapse with fellow KKR mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy claiming three quick wickets at the other end.
