Watch: Liam Livingstone won the battle against Ayush Badoni after an intriguing passage of play, before Nicholas Pooran hit him for three consecutive fours in today’s (April 28) PBKS vs LSG IPL game.

Badoni was on the charge having hit five boundaries in his 37 runs by the 14th over of Lucknow Super Giants’ innings. Under attack from him and Marcus Stoinis, Shikhar Dhawan turned to Liam Livingstone to stem the flow of runs with his mix of spin.

Stoinis tapped the first of Livingstone’s deliveries for a single, bringing Badoni on strike. As Livingstone ran into bowl the 23-year-old made to play a premeditated reverse sweep. Seeing what Badonie was doing, Livingstone pulled out of the delivery just before entering his delivery stride, and turned back to his mark.

Coming to bowl again, this time Badoni pulled out of the shot, drawing an exasperated look from Livingstone who had to cut his step in short once more. On the third time of asking, Livingstone was actually able to deliver the ball. Full on leg stump, Badoni got down on one knee and swept over backward square leg, the ball clearing the boundary for six.

Visibly frustrated, Livingstone sent down a straighter ball next up, to which Badoni tried to repeat his previous shot. But, he wasn’t able to get the same elevation on the ball and picked out Rahul Chahar on ten yards in from the rope. Livingstone roared in celebration.

New batter Nicholas Pooran came to the middle and immediately went on the attack. He drove his first ball down the ground for a boundary before picking up two more of his next two balls, all through extra-cover.
