Watch: Royal Challengers Bangalore wicketkeeper Anuj Rawat pulled off an MS Dhoni-style run out, directing a throw from between his legs and behind his back to dismiss R Ashwin in IPL 2023.

Ashwin’s wicket was the seventh to fall in RR’s batting demolition, collapsing to 59 all out, the third-lowest IPL total of all time. Wayne Parnell was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets, Michael Bracewell and Karn Sharma took two each, as the Royals never quite got going in their chase of 172.
There were four ducks among the dismissed RR batters, including Ashwin, who was run out in the eighth over to leave the home team at 50-7. Off the last ball of the eighth over, Shimron Hetmyer played the ball down to third man region: Ashwin tries to look for two but is sent back.
Before he can return, Mohammed Siraj fires in a throw to Rawat, who nonchalantly flicks it between his legs behind him, without looking at the stumps. As replays suggest, Ashwin isn’t able to reach in time, for Rawat’s brilliance ensures he falls just short.
It was akin to MS Dhoni’s style of directing the ball to the stumps without looking.
