Lucknow Super Giants were dealt an early blow even before the match began as skipper KL Rahul was ruled out of the encounter against CSK after he pulled his hip flexor in the previous game against RCB. The clash had ended on a heated note, with Virat Kohli and LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir involved in a war of words. Later, Afghanistan fast bowler Naveen ul Haq also posted a cryptic Instagram story.

The side went through another batting collapse, reaching 52-5 in 12 overs against CSK. Spin ruled, with all of the first five wickets falling to the slower bowlers. The highlight was the wicket of Stoinis, who was beaten by a sharp turner by all-rounder Jadeja.

The fifth ball of the seventh over was pitched outside the leg stump, which Stoinis, on the front foot, looked to play away. However, the ball beat him completely as it spun away and crashed onto the off-stumps, leaving him in complete disbelief. “Marcus Stoinis is looking perplexed,” commented Rohan Gavaskar on air, as Stoinis stood motionless, taken aback by the turn.

Jadeja had bowled a similar delivery to AB de Villiers in 2021 when the ball had turned sharply to leave the RCB batter surprised.
