MI v KKR, GT v RR: IPL 2023 team news

Mumbai Indians started this edition with two successive losses before winning their last game against Delhi Capitals. KKR, on the other hand, won their first two matches of the tournament and have scored over 200 in three of their games thus far. For MI, Jofra Archer has not played the last two games, with the franchise choosing to rest him. But, he could play on Sunday, replacing Riley Meredith in the starting XI. Kumar Kartikeya could feature in the side over Hrithik Shokeen.

KKR might go in unchanged, although they could be tempted to replace Lockie Ferguson, who conceded 37 in two overs in their last game, with Tim Southee.

For GT, Vijay Shankar wasn’t named in the starting XI in the last game, possibly as he was set to be introduced as an Impact Player. If the defending champions bat first, he could be named straight away. Yash Dayal, who was smacked for five sixes in the last over by Rinku Singh against KKR, did not feature, with Mohit Sharma playing instead. He put in a Player of the Match performance in that match.

Trent Boult did not play for RR because of a niggle against CSK, but will be a starter if fit. He is expected to be used as an Impact Player.

MI v KKR, GT v RR: Today’s match prediction

MI have a superior record against KKR and will be the favourites today. KKR’s spinners could trouble MI skipper Rohit Sharma, but the wicket at the Wankhede might not have much for slower bowlers.

Both GT and RR have won three games thus far, and have all their bases covered. On paper, Rajasthan are the favourites but Gujarat always find ways to come back into the game.
