CSK vs LSG: IPL 2023 team news

The frenzy has transcended a mere sporting contest as Chennai Super Kings – and MS Dhoni, of course – return to Chepauk for the first time since 2019. In pure cricketing terms, this is a citadel, no less, for the CSK have won 40 of their 56 matches at the venue.

That gives them reason to be upbeat despite the last-over defeat in their tournament opener, against defending champions Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad. They will be without Matheesha Pathirana and Maheesh Theekshana, and unless he makes it in time, Sisanda Magala.

Lucknow Super Giants began with a 50-run win against the Delhi Capitals. As if their long string of all-rounders was not enough, they have now been boosted by the pace of Mark Wood, who wreaked havoc against Delhi. It is to be seen whether Wood replicates that pace on the typically slow, low Chepauk surface.

For Lucknow, de Kock is presumably accompanying Magala on the flight to Chennai, and the two are perhaps equally likely to play.

CSK vs LSG: IPL prediction for today’s match 6

Both sides bat deep, Chennai perhaps deeper than Lucknow. They also have home advantage, and have the better spinners. However, Lucknow’s all-rounders, along with more firepower up the order, perhaps give them an edge.
