The IPL 2023 auction is set to take place on December 23 in Kochi – here is a look at all the players who have registered themselves in the highest base price band.
A total of 991 players have registered for the auction, with several big names featuring in the preliminary list. This list will now be sent to all the ten franchises who have until December 9 to shortlist the players they would want to see at the auction. With numerous teams releasing players prior to the auction, a maximum of 87 players can be signed by various sides on December 23. Among these, a maximum of 30 overseas cricketers could fetch themselves an IPL gig.
Interestingly, no Indian cricketer has listed their base price at INR 2 crore, which is the highest base price brand at this auction. Twenty one players have listed themselves at this price, among which the likes of Ben Stokes, Cameron Green, Kane Williamson and Sam Curran feature. England cricketers such as Adil Rashid, Chris Jordan, Craig Overton, Jamie Overton, Phil Salt and Tom Banton have also listed themselves at the highest possible base price.
South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw is also a part of this bracket, as are Jason Holder and Rassie van der Dussen, who represented Lucknow Super Giants and Rajasthan Royals last season, respectively. Chris Lynn, who has previously played for Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians, has put forward his base price as INR 2 crore. Travis Head, one of Australia’s most in-form batters currently, will also be hoping to get a taste of the IPL.
