The incident took place in Match 30 of IPL 2015, when RR took on SRH at the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad. It was the final wicket to fall in the first innings, on the fourth ball of the 20th over, bowled by James Faulkner.
Mishra, who on the strike, tried to heave a slower ball but missed. A mix-up between the batsmen saw Mishra first trying to scamper for a run before returning to his crease.
Sanju Samson, the wicketkeeper, tried to hit the stumps but missed. The ball was then gathered by Faulkner, who also had a shy at the stumps.
Mishra, who thought he was safe after the two throws, took his eye off the ball – literally – and began walking back to his crease casually. Samson was alive to the opportunity, and hit the stumps on RR’s third attempt, catching the batsman short of the crease.
Sunrisers Hyderabad ultimately won the game, saving Mishra from a completely embarrassing result.
