While some of Virat Kohli’s shots, including his cover drive, flick and pull, are popular among cricket fans, the lofted drive he plays does not garner a lot of attention. However, it might just be the best shot he plays.
The lofted drive might be a fairly common shot in the sport, but it is mostly used to hit fours over mid-off. Virat Kohli, however, uses it stylishly to glide sixes over the head of long-off, in an almost effortless manner.
The shot is not guided by brute force, but exceptional timing, straight bat, still head and a big stride forward. He seems to play it when he’s at his best, turning defence into offence with just one shot.
