Kolkata Knight Riders wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik was very nearly in a spot of danger during his side’s IPL clash with Delhi Capitals, as Rishabh Pant swung hard at a second attempt to connect with the ball.
Pant, batting for Delhi at the start of his side’s 17th over in the clash with KKR on Tuesday in Sharjah, swung hard outside off to a Varun Chakravarthy delivery, but was only able to make contact through the inside edge of the bat.
The ball bounced backwards and, seemingly in an attempt to guard his stumps, Pant swung his bat once more – but failed to make any contact with the ball, which dropped short of the stumps. He very nearly made contact with Karthik, however; the gloveman advanced forward after Pant’s edge but was forced to take evasive action as the batter swung once more.
Pant immediately apologised to Karthik as Delhi advanced to a total of 127-9 from their 20 overs.
