Rishabh Pant has made quite the impact on Indian cricket in the past six months, and while for the most part he’s let his batting and glovework do the talking, there have been times when his mouth has as well.
The key to his chirping success appears to be plenty of practice, with the Delhi Capitals wicketkeeper indulging in some light-hearted banter with overseas batsman Sam Billings in the nets ahead of IPL 2021. After a ball bounced more than Billings expected, Pant let out an excited “Oy hoy!”
He and Billings then chatted, with Pant remarking that the wicket was “much better than [those used for the] Test matches”. While the next ball wasn’t captured by the Capitals camera team, from Pant’s reaction we can surmise Billings didn’t middle his stroke.
“Someone is not hitting,” he jested.
Those afraid that Pant being lumped with the captaincy might affect his natural exuberance need worry no longer.
