It’s been several years since Sachin Tendulkar exited international cricket, but his allure and the aura around him still remain very much intact.
Now, as the mentor of Mumbai Indians, the only team he has been associated with in the IPL, Tendulkar continues to command the respect and admiration that once made him one of the top batters of the world.
A hilarious clip from the Mumbai Indians dressing room showed just how the India great still enjoys the same respect from the younger generation of Indian players, in a country where he has been adulated to the extent of being christened as the ‘God of Cricket’.
In the video, wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan is seen coolly sauntering into the team dressing room with his shades on and earpods plugged in, only to suddenly realise that international cricket’s greatest run-scorer is also in the same room. With a sheepish smile on, he hastily takes off the eyewear, adjusts his hairdo and hides his pods in their case, turning off the ‘cool’ quotient with the senior in the room.
“Oh…afternoon, sir!” Kishan greets Tendulkar, much like a schoolboy to a teacher in primary grade. “How are you?”, asks Tendulkar, with a smile on. “Great,” replies Kishan, even as the rest of his teammates burst out laughing.
Looking to break his current patch of odd form, Kishan surely wouldn’t want to get into the bad books of his mentor!
