The medium-pacer was bowling to Dhoni in an intra-squad practice match on March 17 when he unleashed a scorcher to send Dhoni’s stumps cartwheeling. The dismissal sent social media in a tizzy, arousing curiosity among fans about the CSK’s new recruit.
Harishankar Reddy has played U19 cricket for Andhra, before progressing to the state side with his T20 debut in 2018. He made his List A debut with the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2021.
Harishankar is one of the six players bought by CSK ahead of IPL 2021, after being purchased at his base price of INR 20 lakh. The team, which failed to qualify to the playoffs for the first time in IPL history, and ended seventh in the points table.
The season will be MS Dhoni’s second IPL edition after taking international retirement. He retired a month before the start of the 2020 IPL, but promised to return for the 2021 edition with a more improved showing.
