Delhi Capitals completed a convincing win against Rajasthan Royals in a one-sided encounter in Abu Dhabi.
There was a moment of amusement earlier in the game as three international players were involved in a comical non-run out in the 20th over of the Delhi innings.
Mustafizur Rahman sent down an off-cutter that angled across Ravichandran Ashwin who tried to reverse scoop the ball over short third man. Ashwin failed to connect but was called through for a bye Lalit Yadav – the superior batter – ahead of the innings’ final ball. The single wasn’t really on with Lalit almost reaching the striker’s end by the time Ashwin regained his footing and set off. The run out seemed liked a formality as wicketkeeper Sanju Samson’s throw to Mustafizur safely reached the Bangladesh quick.
The Bangladesh quick failed to dislodge the bails and his throw at the stumps resulted in an overthrow. Ashwin, who was well out of his crease, completed a second run, when there shouldn’t have been one. Harsha Bhogle exclaimed on commentary: “Oh, it’s a comedy of errors, this!”
