Watch: South Africa batter Aiden Markram was left befuddled after mistiming a ball in the Indian Premier League clash between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings, only to be hit on the helmet in a comedic on-field moment.
They say the key to batting is to watch the ball, but that’s easier said than done when you inside-edge the ball onto your thigh pad via your waistband-tucked towel and up into the sky above you. Markram did exactly that, looking left and right as he searched for the ball, but thankfully not up, with the ball falling down to earth right on the top of the South African’s head.
He and fast bowler Tim Southee exchanged a smile and a laugh, with Simon Doull chuckling away in the commentary box. “He lost it completely,” said Doull.
