Watch: AB de Villiers hilariously imitated Virat Kohli and his celebration style after RCB’s IPL 2021 win over MI.
IPL’s perennial underachievers Royal Challengers Bangalore have plenty of reasons to smile these days, having continued their form from the previous edition to fare well in IPL 2021. The side is now in its 14th season of trophy pursuit, and look set to enter the playoffs this time, having notched up six wins in ten games.
The dressing room is understandably buzzing with high morale, as was captured in a behind-the-scenes dressing room clip of the Virat Kohli-led side after their win against Mumbai Indians. It’s the first time RCB has defeated MI more than once in one season, and they now stand third on the points table, behind CSK and DC.
The video captured dressing room talks from Kohli and coach Mike Hesson, along with snippets of hat-trick hero Harshal Patel along with other players. However, it was a short clip of AB de Villiers at the end that caught the most attention, where he imitated his long-time captain Kohli’s animated celebration style.
In the video, de Villiers is seen running around, exulting and hugging his teammates like Kohli usually does, before pulling off the trademark double fist pump celebration. He follows it with a cheeky imitation of Kohli’s pep-talk, shouting “Stay calm, guys. It’s just one game”, much to his teammates’ amusement.
On and off the field, de Villiers surely knows how to entertain.
