Kieron Pollard gave a Shikhar Dhawan a Mankad warning in the MI v DC encounter in IPL 2021 on Tuesday, before doing the same thing while batting against Punjab Kings three days later.
Pollard registered an unbeaten 16 off 12 balls against PBKS on Friday. However, he could have been dismissed midway through that knock, had Mohammad Shami noticed that he was backing up too far before the ball had left his hand.
Pollard leaving his crease raised more questions on the hot Mankad issue. The on-air commentators also spoke about the same and discussed how backing up too far was unfair on the bowling side.
It was an ironic moment, considering Pollard himself had given a warning to a batsman when he was on the other side of the incident just 72 hours ago.
The question about backing up too far was raised by Harsha Bhogle earlier in the tournament, when a no-ball check in the RR v CSK game showed that the batsman, Dwayne Bravo, was well out of his crease.
“Look where Bravo is. That is why I believe you’re entirely within your rights…it should almost be mandatory in team meetings to say, run him out. All this talk about not being in the spirit of the game is so much nonsense,” Bhogle had said on air.
