Team Preview: IPL 2021, the 14th edition of Indian Premier League, is all set to resume action on September 19. The Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore sit at the third-place on the IPL 2021 points table.
The RCB side has, over the years, boasted of some of world cricket’s top talents, but are yet to break the jinx of a title-less season for 13 straight years. Last year, the team looked set to shake off the curse after a solid group stage, reaching the play-off stage. However, they lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad.
IPL 2021 RCB team preview
In an attempt to start afresh, RCB released as many as ten players ahead of the IPL 2021 auction. With enough purse remaining to focus on promising international and domestic cricketers in the auction, they completed some of the costliest buys this time, including New Zealand all-rounder Kyle Jamieson and Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, purchasing a total of eight players.
Both Jamieson and Maxwell have proven to be good options for the RCB this season. In addition to this, RCB have also made a number of changes to their squad for the UAE leg owing to some players being unavailable. Bengal pacer Akash Deep has replaced Indian tweaker Washington Sundar. Tim David, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dushamantha Chameera, and George Garton have replaced Finn Allen, Adam Zampa, Scott Kuggeljein, and Daniel Sams into the squad.
