Delhi Capitals come off the back of a stunning season in UAE where they bullied other teams with pace and bounce and even with Rishabh Pant not clicking, produced good results with the bat.
Chennai, on the other hand, are deprived of their fortress in Chepauk, and play in Mumbai, where conditions are in stark contrast, against a strong Delhi side. Both teams will miss their South Africa pacers who are in quarantine for this game.
Head to head record
Overall: CSK 15 – 8 DC
Since 2019: CSK 3 – 2 DC
Team record in Mumbai
Chennai Super Kings: Won 7, Lost 7
Delhi Capitals: Won 3, Lost 6
CSK DC Dream11 Fantasy tips
- Chris Woakes is likely to start in the absence of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje. While his T20 numbers aren’t stunning, the fresh Wankhede wicket and the CSK batters will be to his liking. He is not just a good pick, but also a potential left-field option as your Dream11 captain.
- Shikhar Dhawan, Faf du Plessis and Prithvi Shaw are the obvious picks (will get to Shaw later) in the batting department on the surface that has bounce and carry. CSK do not have the pace to trouble Dhawan and he is likely to start the tournament well.

- Rayudu, familiar with the Mumbai surface, Rahane (if he plays) and Uthappa are good picks too.
- Shaw has a pertinent issue against Deepak Chahar who has dismissed him five times in 39 balls in the IPL. On the juicy Wankhede, Shaw, despite his form, becomes a suspect pick.
- Pant for sure edges Dhoni as the wicketkeeper and he is a decent captaincy option too given that the CSK spinners are to his liking; Jadeja and Karn (Tahir) turn the ball into him while Moeen Ali and Krishnappa Gowtham are unlikely to get enough turn to trouble his outside edge.
- Chahar and Thakur, another good captaincy pick for the wickets he gets in the death, are certain picks from the bowling department. Marcus Stoinis from the all-rounders set could also be a good pick as he is bowling value on the large Wankhede ground.
