The event won’t be a mega auction, but a condensed form of a full-fledged Indian Premier League auction that will run for half a day. A total of 292 players will go under the hammer, as each team looks to strengthen their squads ahead of the 2021 IPL season. Here’s the full list of players that will be part of the auction process, which also includes a list of overseas cricketers from around the world. The players have been divided into different slabs of base price, and each side can have a maximum of 25 players on their roster. The number of slots available for each IPL team can be found here.
IPL auction 2021: date and start time
The 2021 IPL auction will be held on Thursday, February 18, in Chennai. The auction will begin at 3.00pm IST, with the pre-auction programme commencing an hour earlier.
Just like the previous edition, auctioneer Hugh Edmeades will be conducting the event.
IPL auction 2021 live telecast: TV channels
In India, the auction will be broadcast on the Star Sports Network on the following channels: Star Sports 1, Star Sports 1 HD, Star Sports 1 Hindi, Star Sports 1 Hindi HD, Star Sports 1 Tamil, Star Sports 1 Telugu, Star Sports 1 Kannada and Star Sports 1 Bangla.
In India, a pre-auction show will feature experts Gautam Gambhir, Ashish Nehra, Aakash Chopra and Irfan Pathan from 2pm IST. The event coverage will be followed by a post-auction show, starting 9pm IST.
In the UK, the auction will be telecast live on Sky Sports.
